| Blue Valentine History "Blue Valentines are solid, stout horses, good-footed, and great minded. Blue Valentine offspring seem to have the best disposition of any of the horses that we've owned. Not only can you mount the best cowboys on them, but you can also put your kids on them. Thank God there are horses around today that carry on his traits. Blue Valentine's official AQHA sire record lists 210 registered foals, including race money earners and performance point earners. His grandsire record includes a race register of merit qualifier, race money earners, performance and halter point earners. Like his sire, Red Man and his grandsire, Joe Hancock, Blue Valentine passed on his speed, good bone, gentle disposition, longevity and cow savvy. His performance and that of his get, having been concentrated on ranches or in the rodeo arena, acquired almost no official record. Blue Valentine spent his entire life in his 'work clothes' his legacy flourishes through his descendants. In the history of the Quarter Horse breed, a few horses have made such an impact that their reputation outlives them by more than a few generations. Blue Valentine's name is mentioned alongside the best of the foundation bloodlines in the quarter horse industry. In absence of official accomplishment records, this legacy must depend on reputation and great offspring. But even fewer have achieved such a status that their very name represents a class of horses all their own. Like most Hancock breeders, Blue Valentine breeders are fiercely loyal. People who have been privileged enough to own one, felt like theirs was or is the 'best of the Blue Valentines.' A quarter century after his death, his bloodlines have become more popular and widely sought after than ever. Blue Valentine has rightfully earned his place in history among the great foundation ranch and performance sires of the 20th century. Many top ropers also used Valentine bred horses, and this was the reason for breeding Red Man to a daughter of Valentine. This mating produced Blue Valentine, a product of two known lines of cow horses with speed. Blue Valentine was a reputable competition roping horse from the start, and he had the speed and the desire to work cattle as well. Both of our stallions here on the ranch are high percentage Blue Valentine horses. They are the new generation of Blue Valentine. YO Blue Coop is in training in Oklahoma and we are looking forward to showing him in the spring. He has all of the heart and try that a person could ask for in a colt. This colt was bred to work, and he knows it. If you are looking for a horse that will stay sound and that has the mentality to do any job whether in the arena or on the ranch come out and take a look at our horses. |
